About Me

Thalia González is a Professor at Occidental College (Political Science) and Senior Scholar at Georgetown Law. She has previously been a scholar in residence at Berkeley Law and UCLA School of Law. Thalia has published extensively on the theory and practices of restorative justice and her teaching is focused on restorative justice, civil and human rights, race and gender, juvenile justice, law and society, and education policy and practice. At Georgetown Law, she leads the Center on Poverty and Inequality’s national research on restorative justice. In this role, she works with practitioners, researchers and policy makers with a specific focus on system change and policy development. She also advises and supports a number of projects and programs using a restorative approaches in public and political systems, as well as community-based settings. Thalia has been an external reviewer for the National Institute of Justice, William T. Grant Foundation, and numerous high impact journals.  She has also served as an evaluator for the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and consultant for the National Institute of Justice. Presently, she sits on the Advisory Committee for the Restorative Justice Research Institute and the Advisory Board for the Restorative Justice Center at the University of San Diego.
