Professor Scott Dodson is the James Edgar Hervey Chair in Litigation and Geoffrey C. Hazard Jr. Distinguished Professor of Law at University of California College of the Law, San Francisco. An expert in civil procedure and federal courts, Professor Dodson has authored more than 100 papers appearing in Stanford Law Review, New York University Law Review, Michigan Law Review, California Law Review, University of Pennsylvania Law Review, Virginia Law Review, Duke Law Journal, Northwestern University Law Review, Georgetown Law Journal, and several peer-reviewed journals, among others. He has published eight book titles, including New Pleading in the Twenty-First Century (Oxford 2013), the definitive monograph on the landmark pleadings decisions of Twombly and Iqbal, and The Legacy of Ruth Bader Ginsburg (Cambridge 2015, 2d ed. 2022), the first book devoted to Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the only book devoted to her legal legacy. He serves as the U.S. editor of the worldwide leading journal on civil procedure, International Journal of Procedural Law. His writings have been downloaded more than 70,000 times, and he is one of the most highly cited civil-procedure scholars in the world.
