Dedication of Our 78th Volume to Justice Elena Kagan

CALL FOR ARTICLES

The New York University Annual Survey of American Law is honored to dedicate its 78th volume to Elena Kagan, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.

Submission of Papers

All papers on this topic should be sent to law.annualsurvey@nyu.edu or submitted via Scholastica AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. We are looking for a final article for this issue and are highly motivated to accept one ASAP. 

Topic:

Elena Kagan has dedicated her career to preserving institutions that are essential to the proper functioning of American democracy. She has championed this cause as an Associate White House Counsel, as Solicitor General, as a law professor and Dean of Harvard Law School, and now as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

In recognition of Elena Kagan’s career as a scholar and public servant, this dedication issue explores topics related to defending democratic institutions. We are seeking papers centered around maintaining and fortifying democratic institutions, the administrative state, and consensus building in the judiciary. Papers selected will be published along with tributes to Elena Kagan written by Sri Srinivasan, David Barron, John Manning, Martha Minow, Richard Pildes, and Yaira Dubin.

Founded in 1942, the New York University Annual Survey of American Law is a student-edited journal at New York University School of Law. Annual Survey is NYU’s second-oldest law journal and was originally compiled by NYU faculty members as a comprehensive annual reference guide to developments in American law. Now a quarterly publication, Annual Survey continues its original mission by exploring contemporary legal developments in the United States from a practice-oriented perspective.
