The Journal of Constitutional Law at Penn Carey Law invites submissions for its upcoming Spring 2025 symposium, titled Data, AI, and the Constitution: Redefining Criminal Law for the Digital Age. This year's symposium, taking place on Friday, January 31, 2025, explores how constitutional criminal law doctrine must adapt to or is impacted by the advent of new technologies.
We are seeking papers for our panels on 1) Technological Changes and Their Effects on Criminal Procedure, and 2) Algorithmic Decision-Making and Constitutional Challenges.

Submission Guidelines:- Please include a brief abstract (300 words) and a current CV.
- Articles can be submitted via email at conlaw@law.upenn.edu or through Scholastica.
- Please indicate whether you are interested in publishing, speaking, or both.
Final Article Requirements:
- Articles should be between 15,000 and 30,000 words, inclusive of footnotes.
- We ask for Bluebook conformity.
- Initial drafts are due by January 10, 2025
- Final drafts are due by January 24, 2025
The symposium will include three panels and a keynote address and will be held in person at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School in Philadelphia, PA, on Friday, January 31, 2025. JCL will reimburse all reasonable symposium travel, lodging, and other expenses associated with participation in this symposium.
