HLALR invites authors from throughout the legal community (academics, practitioners, judges, etc.) to submit unsolicited manuscripts for publication. Authors need not be professors, students, or otherwise in academia unless submitting formal legal analysis. Submissions accepted include: formal legal analysis, captioned visual art, and creative writing (short stories, poetry). HLALR especially encourages submissions 1) regarding liberation, solidarity, and healing work, including the abolition of oppressive institutions and creation of alternatives; 2) centered on Latin America and its diaspora; and 3) from Black and indigenous authors.

For a student note submissions, we suggest a length of 10,000 to 12,000 words with a maximum of 15,000 words. However, shorter pieces that are not the full note length may still be considered for publication.

Please send submissions by 08/15/2023 via the Scholastica platform or email us at hlalr@mail.law.harvard.edu. Earlier submissions preferred. Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis. For formal legal analysis submissions, please include a cover letter and resume. Footnotes should comply with The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st ed. 2020).
